Release the Dream

I love to dream.  I have many different day dreams that vary from winning the lottery to getting my dream job to just being able to keep my house tidy for longer than a couple of hours to worldwide travel and of course the old favourite losing weight and looking fab.  I can dream for hours about these things while actually doing nothing about any of them!

With Brenda, I realised that dreams are all very well but how about actually trying to make some of them come true.  That is the hard part, but without doing anything how will we ever achieve them?

It is time to release our dreams and see where they take us.

The biggest one and most constant was to lose weight and live a healthier lifestyle.  This may seem simple but we had tried before with varying success, generally none though!  This time we had to make it different, we had to actually make the change.   To do this the very first thing we had to do was to change the mindset, we had to truly want it.

We started our weight loss journey 3 months ago and so far it is going well but was it really going to be different this time?  We started to think about our dreams and how we could work the two together to give us more focus.

We wanted to have a more solid goal at the end of our journey rather than just looking fab and feeling great…we don’t want much!  We needed a goal, something we could get our teeth into and give us focus on our personal dreams.  We decided that maybe we could do a challenge for charity but running, climbing or walking just isn’t our thing, so we looked for different challenges and found the one that made both of us skip a beat.  Spending time in the Arctic Circle learning how to mush with a team of Huskies and getting to know the Sami culture.  It involves travelling over 200km while sledding with a team of 3 or 4 Huskies.  We will be responsible for looking after our own team of huskies and will have to learn how to mush with them too.  It is not everyone’s idea of  fun, but that is the point of a challenge!

One thing has led to another and here we find ourselves going public with our personal challenge.  Scary? Yes but also a bit liberating, we are now accountable to others.

The idea of a blog came from wanting to let  people  follow our journey and maybe inspire others to follow their dreams, no matter how big or small.  I have toyed with the idea of a blog for a couple of years now, so here I am following another dream.

We have given ourselves 2 years to meet the challenge and release our dream but it feels so real now that we have put it out there.

We would like to invite you to follow our journey and hope to inspire you to follow your dreams.

Here’s to living the dream!
