Granola

I love Granola but have never found one that I like every bit of.  Some were too crunchy, or too nutty or too oaty or too sweet.  I decided the only way to get it the way I liked it was to make my own.  When I discovered how easy it was to make I wondered why it had taken me so long to get round to it.

2 cups Oats

¼ cup chopped nuts

¼ cup seeds

¼ cup dried fruit

2tbsp sweetener – honey, maple syrup, golden syrup or brown sugar

2 tbsp butter – nut butter, coconut oil, butter or peanut butter

1 tsp vanilla extract or spice of your choosing – cinnamon, all spice or ginger

You can change or add things to your taste.  Just substitute one ingredient for another but keep to the same ratio of wet to dry.

You could use chocolate chips, shredded coconut, protein powder, cacao chips or more seeds and nuts and less fruit.

Mix all the dry ingredients together in a bowl.

Heat the wet ingredients in a pan until butter is melted.

Then mix the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients.

Once it is well mixed spread it out onto a baking sheet and bake in the oven at 160 for 15 minutes then take it out and give it a gentle stir, put it back in the oven for another 15 minutes.

Take out and let cool down before placing it in a storage container.

it can be used as a breakfast cereal, to top fruit and Yogurt, mixed in with crumble toppings or made into granola bars.
